Real Duct Cleaning began years before the company had a name. It started with a father determined to protect his family from something he could not see.

In 2017, shortly after entering the indoor air quality field, one of the founders faced a frightening crisis at home. His newborn son suddenly developed severe breathing issues at only a month old. Desperate for answers, he inspected the house and found two feet of microbial growth climbing up a dresser pushed against a shower wall. A hidden leak inside that wall had wicked moisture into the furniture. Across the room, the air handler closet was pulling air from that contaminated space and distributing it throughout the entire home. After repairing the leak, removing the contaminated materials and fully sanitizing the area, his son’s breathing improved the very next morning. That moment ignited a deep understanding of how invisible problems inside a home can seriously impact a family’s health.

By 2019, the issue struck again, this time affecting him directly. He began to experience inflammation, joint pain and unexplained health symptoms. Air tests showed nothing. The environment smelled clean. Nothing looked wrong. But something was off. Only after removing baseboards did he discover hidden toxic mold behind the walls. It had been growing silently, undetected by standard tests. This second event deepened his mission and reinforced a hard truth. You cannot rely on what you can see. You cannot trust a house simply because it looks clean. But the most important lesson came later.

Around 2021, even after multiple remediation projects and cleanings, something still felt wrong in the home. His wife kept saying the air quality didn’t feel right. Her intuition was strong and persistent. He dismissed it at first, believing the remediation work had handled everything. But her instinct was right. When he finally decided to install a whole-home purification device in the HVAC system, he opened the plenum box and made the discovery that changed everything. Inside the air handler and plenum was massive microbial contamination. The lungs of the home had been contaminated all along. Every breath the family took passed through that hidden growth. It explained the lingering health symptoms.
It confirmed his wife’s intuition. This exposed a devastating industry blind spot.

In Florida, mold remediators are not legally allowed to inspect HVAC systems. HVAC contractors focus primarily on repairs and replacements, not microbial contamination. Which means there is a gap. This was the moment the founders realized that Florida families were breathing air that no one was truly examining. That realization became the foundation.

In November 2022, Real Duct Cleaning was born. Not as a commodity cleaning company. Not as a superficial brush-and-go service. But as a mission-driven solution to a problem the founders had lived through multiple times. One founder brought nearly a decade of indoor air quality and environmental experience shaped by personal crisis and frontline work with families. The other brought thirty years of duct cleaning and HVAC system expertise. Together they built Real Duct Cleaning with one guiding principle.
